The Conservation Partners Program supports landholders in voluntarily protecting and managing native vegetation, wildlife habitat, geological features, historic heritage and Aboriginal cultural heritage on their properties. The program is operated by the NSW Dept. of Environment and Heritage and has three levels of engagement:
- Conservation Agreements
- Wildlife Refuges
- Land for Wildlife
BioBanking is a market-based scheme that provides a streamlined biodiversity assessment process for development, a rigorous and credible offsetting scheme as well as an opportunity for rural landowners to generate income by managing land for conservation.
For a general guide to the scheme and how it works, download the BioBanking Scheme Overview(biobankingoverview07528.pdf, 686 KB) and The Science behind BioBanking(09476biobankingscience.pdf, 841KB).
If you are looking to manage native vegetation on your property you might consider having a Property Vegetation Plan (PVP) developed with the Catchment Management Authority. A PVP is a voluntary, legally binding agreement between a landholder and the CMA, which can provide a number of benefits including financial assistance.
