This invaluable Handbook provides specific information for owners of small landholdings. It has a wide ranging information on property management, including livestock, fencing, chemicals and waste disposal as well as biosecurity responsibilities, including pests, weeds and diseases.

Every Bit Counts

Every Bit Counts is a website for small landholders looking to connect to hundreds of like-minded people trying to improve their land, production capacity and environment. This program is currently operating in the Hunter Region and has many useful contacts to government departments and resources.

ORGANISATIONS AND AGENCIES

Centre for Invasive Species Solutions

The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions is a government funded research facility based at the University of Canberra. They have produced the FeralScan website and App which can be used by community groups for managing pest animals

Local Land Services Hunter

Local Land Services works in partnership with LMCC to ensure best practice management of natural resources, including weed management and pest animal control in areas regarding council laws.

They provide guidelines, training and incentive programs and assist council with weed and pest management plans for local landowners.

Lake Macquarie Landcare

Lake Macquarie Landcare is a partnership between the Lake Macquarie Landcare Network Inc, Lake Macquarie City Council (LMCC) and almost 300 Landcare groups within the LMCC Local Government Area. Local groups are supported through the Landcare Resource Centre.

Community Environmental Network – Central Coast Group

CEN is an independent community network group that works for Ecologically Sustainable Development and against threats to it. The Network provides advice, resources, information and support to individuals and community groups to improve their environment in the Gosford, Wyong and Lake Macquarie areas.

Land for Wildlife

Land for Wildlife is a voluntary property registration scheme that encourages and supports landholders to manage areas of their property for wildlife habitat. Registration is free and does not alter the legal status of a property.

Nature Conservation Council of NSW

NSW Dept. of Planning and Environment

The Environment and Heritage Group is part of the Dept. of Planning and Enviroment. Amongst other responsibilities this group manages the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Biodiversity, Conservation and Science.
